Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences is advancing our understanding and management of the complex systems in which we live. Students in this department have many and varied disciplines to choose from: soil and aquatic ecology, horticulture and the green industry, forest ecology, insect ecology, food and fiber production, fish and wildlife conservation, and human dimensions of the environment.

The development of the Arboretum, for example, will rely almost exclusively on the collaboration and generosity of businesses, alumni, and friends of the college. Horticulture and natural resources are increasingly being recognized as keystone issues for sustainability of metropolitan communities. The St. Charles Horticulture Research Center is uniquely positioned to address these issues, yet without committed funds, its future may only be conceptual.
